Changing job to meet the list of 38

Hello. Could you please advise me on the following matter. I have a Master's degree with honour in the occupation I've been working continuously for 11 years. If I resign now & get a job that is in the list of 38 occupations, will I qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker program after obtaining just a year experience in that new occupation?

yes, my main 11 year experience counts towards my education points (it isn't in the list of 38), but I also have a part time job that is amongst 38 occupations. When I re-submit my application will I need to put this part time job as a primary one? Shall I need to produce paper-proofs from two my jobs? The matter is that I still work on my pain occupation & not planning to quit.

As far as I remember, there's no space provided for a "primary" job. If your part-time job (the one that is in the list) equals to at least 1 year full-time equivalent, then you can apply right away. You list both your part-time job and you full-time job.

I don't know what you mean by "my main 11 years experience counts towards my education points", education is one thing, professional experience is another. Or has that changed??

I just wanted to say that my full-time job is related to my education dimploma

In principle, it's not a problem, as long as you're qualified to perform the job. Your qualification should, as close as possible, follow what the NOC described. If your diploma is in History and your part time job is in Petroleum Engineering, you'll be in trouble.

But, if your diploma is in History and your part time job is teaching at a community college, then you should be ok.

Notice that it's very difficult to give accurate advice without knowing the case in detail (your diplomas, professional experience) - and honestly, I cannot do that for you. Perhaps you should consult a lawyer or someone with more experience.

In your case (1 part time, one full time), it should be ok.

Hi Suin,

It depends. If your current diploma & occupation have nothing to do with any of the 38 occupations, then yes, you'd need to get trained and get some work experience.

I'll try to give you an example. My current job is as a research assitant, that is a NOC that is not on the list. But if I get a job as a college instructor (that is one NOC that is on the list), then I can work for one year and apply (not 4 years!). But the training for research assistant and college instructor is the same, it's just a matter of work experience.

Sorry I can't help you more. You'll have to take a good look at what you do, and what your qualifications are, and see what you can do with it...
