Canada is not in the List of VWP countries. For Canada-us there is different legislation which allows Canadians to travel to us without a visa.

Thanks for sharing this. My husband is a Canadian / US passport holder and has visited two of these countries within the last few years (working with NGOs). Sounds like it's going to be a good idea for him to use his US passport whenever entering the US just to be sure.
