ok so.....I sent in app in oct. we were asked to submit additional documents and have not seen any changes since October.
There has been no SA on my side, just AOR. BUT I went into the GCKEY thing this morning and the review of eligibility has changed on the hubbys side to review in progress.
Does this mean I have gotten my SA and they have started the second stage of our application? up until now it has said not started.....

Thanks so much

so the sponsor's application says "not started" and has no status while the applicant's application says "in process"?

there are a few things that can be happening here:

1. sometimes SA letters are not sent, or get lost, so it's not totally out of the norm.
if the applicant's side says, "in process", you can call the CIC call centre and they will be able to confirm the sponsor's application status. you can also apply for the GCMS notes to see where it's at in processing.

2.
did the additional document request have a "due date" listed? sometimes they won't continue processing applications until the specific date listed in the request letter. if the applicant's application is "in process", this may not be relavant.

3. we have seen cases where "straightforward" applications are processed in tandem. this means IRCC is working on both applications at the same time.

calling the call centre and getting your GCMS notes will help determine what's going on. If both of these things are done, and there's still no answer provided, then the next step would be contacting the sponsor's MP to help get a clear answer.

When I log into ecas it says in process for the sponsorship application status, and application recieved for permanent residence status.
When I log into the account that we linked the app. The review of eligibilty has changed from not started to review in progress.

if the sponsorship application is "in process" and the sponsor's review of eligibility has changed to "in process", that means the sponsor's application is currently being reviewed.

an applicant's application will always show as "received" before sponsor approval, since the applicant's application is deemed received the same day as the sponsor's application. this is how the application is put into the system. this does not suggest they are working on the applicant's application, only that it is considered received. this should match the date written in the AOR.

The applicants review of eligibility has changed from not started to review in progress. Not the sponsor, i'm sorry if I have confused things.

then follow the recommendations i suggested above to find out the sponsor's application status status. it has been edited since your initial response to it.
