Hi All,

I have came across this news cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp in affect from June 26, 2010

There comes a new entry for Earlier Insurance Adjusters and Claims Examiners.

My son is PR in Canada but he is unable to met family sponsorship requirements. My question is Can I file my own application as PR? under Federal Skilled Worker Applications.

Here is what I have with me:
Education: Masters (17yrs full time study.)
Experience: 30yrs (Full time Govt Job.)
Age: 53yrs 6months
Wife Education: Masters (17yrs full time study.)
Fall under Category: Earlier Insurance Adjusters and Claims Examiners (NOC: 1233)

Can anybody suggest, if I can go with filing my application as PR or Not. I don't have IELTS at moment, but I will appear if I found my self eligible for my application.

Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.

hi youngerb

Looking at your info:

Education: Masters (17yrs full time study.) 25
Experience: 30yrs (Full time Govt Job.) 21
Age: 53yrs 6months 2
Wife Education: Masters (17yrs full time study.) 5
Son PR 5

Right now you have 58 points. You need to get at least 9 points in the IELTS in order to reach a total of 67 points. I suggest you aim for 16 points in the IELTS in order to have a score of more than 67 points. If you know French, go for the test as well. The higher the score, the better your chances are.

May I ask what the minimum requirements are in order for a son or a daughter to sponsor parents?

Hi upp942,

Thanks for your valuable information.

In our case, my son has to show Basic Annual Income $46,727 for 5 people including him as per Guide 5196.

One more thing to check: You mentioned 2 points for age, and when I check on CIC website calculator, it gives 0 points when selected Age more than 53. Can you please check again for me.

Thanks

I used the probably "recently-updated" (forms/guides have been continuously updating since the June 26, 2010 announcement regarding new immigration rules) FSW Application for Permanent Residence Guide. Hopefully you won't turn 54 until your application has been accepted by the CIO. :D

Hi,

I am going to be 54 in mid September. I have few more questions pops up in my mind.

1 If I apply by end of July, How long will it take get my application accepted by CIO.
2 Is it possible if I can submit my IELTS later after submitting my application or it has to go along with application.
3 Can I file my application just with my application or for all members (myself, wife , 2 kids both 18yr)

Thanks

1. It depends on where you are. Let me give you an example. I submitted my application on May 25, 2010 from the US and it was received by CIO on May 28, 2010
2. IELTS has to be included with the initial application
3. Yes, you can file your application without including your family but if you do that, you won't be able to sponsor them in the future

1. I am in New Delhi - India..
2. I came to know that I can file IELTS within 3 months of submitting my application.
3. I will include my all family members during application, Just to check if I can send application fee just for myself and forward application fee for rest of members once I got approval.

Thanks
