Hi Ohcanada,

Wow, that's quite an explanation!!!!!!!!
Really appreciate, now I got it. Thanks :)

@ OhCanadian

Early next year. The news release states:

"Final publication is scheduled for late 2012 and the new FSWP points grid will likely take effect in January 2013. While there is currently a pause on new applications (except for FSWP candidates with a qualifying offer of arranged employment or those applying under the PhD stream), CIC expects to begin accepting applications again early next year

Dear OhCanadian,

The text you quoted talks about FSWP.. It doesnt say that changes to CEC would take effect in January 2013 as well... ::) :(

Shalini.

Take a look at the link to the Canada Gazette. Changes to the entire foreign workers application streams (FSWC changes, creation of FSTC, and CEC modifications) are all in the same published proposed law.

What do you think happens to CEC student stream ? They just waive the education requirement and that's it?

They didn't waive anything yet, I'm just assuming they will remove education requirement?

Now requirements are:
2 years of studies + 1 year of work
**OR**
2 years of work

So if they now need only 1 year of work experience, what will be the difference between those two streams?

i don't think they will make any changes under student stream. it will sound gr8 to reduce one year work experience to six months

Tomorrow's Canada Gazette outlines proposes several changes to the CEC program (as part of broader changes to the federal skilled worker program evolution).

As background, under the proposed plan, skilled workers could apply under one of 3 federal classes depending on their work experience and whether it was acquired in Canada:
- FSWC (Foreign Skilled Worker Class): for managerial, professional or technical occupations
- FSTC (Foreign Skilled Trades Class): for skilled tradespersons with an offer of employment in Canada or a certificate of qualification from a provincial authority
- CEC (Canadian Experience Class): for skilled workers already employed in Canada

*** CEC (Canadian Experience Class) Changes Proposed ***

- The Canadian work experience requirement would be reduced from 24 months to 12 in the preceding 36 months, to allow faster transition for those who have already proven their employability in Canada's labour market. Accumulating 12 months of authorized work within the preceding 36 is more flexible for applicants working in Canada under international agreements (e.g. International Experience Canada).

- Only applicants with NOC 0, A or B work experience would continue to qualify for the CEC.

- Minimum language abilities would be required in each of the four abilities (reading, writing, oral comprehension and speaking) for applicants to the CEC.
"As with the FSWC, the proposed Regulations would grant the Minister the authority to set the language threshold. Initially, it is anticipated that the threshold would be set at CLB/NCLC 7, which corresponds to having “adequate intermediate proficiency” in speaking, oral comprehension, reading and writing for NOC 0 and A applicants and CLB/NCLC 5, or “initial intermediate” proficiency in each ability for NOC B applicants."

Hi...Can International student with one year of full time study in Canada are eligible to apply under new CEC class rules for 1 year work experience ? I have my work permit expiring in December 2012 and I have worked in 2 skilled jobs for 8 months till April 2012 (Ontario) and 3 months from June 2012 onwards (Saskatchewan) with 1 month gap between them when I had no skilled job and I am still working in my second job and hopefully will keep working atleast till december 2012. Would I be eligible to apply under new CEC class rules ? and when these rules are going to be in action ?

I can't deny that 16months of diploma program helped me find my current job. However, it feels like I wasted a lot of money and time for that.
I'm going to apply in this coming December.

yeah, sounds very unfair to us- foreign graduates, we had to be at school for 2 years plus one year at work to be eligible, while those guys will only need 1 year of work experience to be able to apply... 3 years of waiting or one year of waiting really makes a difference. I think this -post graduate- stream somehow got neglected when they were inventing all those changes to be made next year.

And 'sorrymontana' how do you think most of temporary foreign workers got the job offers from Canadian employers in first place.. They have had some sort of education and work experience already before Canadian employer thought it is worthwhile to file a Labor Market Opinion application for them and bring them to work here (after a wait of nearly 3 months in most cases)... Why cringe?

and do u know how much it cost international students to study here?????? while temporal skilled workers gained only work experience in canada by working here for sometimes without spending for tuition and other school expenses, international students have done much better by paying for tuition and other stuffs. it is still very unfair to us that have spent lots of money studying in this country. This changes supposed to benefit both parties.. mtchewwwwww just saying!!!!!!

I have to agree with ujbaby.
On the other hand, I'm not sure if I would've been able to get a job as a foreign worker without studying in Canada.
We at least get some tax credit for the tuition, don't we?
