Hello. New here. Was hoping someone can shed some light on what will happen if during the application process, the applicant has to undergo change of residency.

We have just lodged my application (under spouse visa) two months ago. I am currently based in Dubai hence in the forms and some requirements, I declared Dubai as my country of residence. However, I am going home to the Philippines for good by next month. I'm worried this might drastically affect our application process. Would it be considered null and void because of the change of residency? Or it's just a matter of updating my info at the Embassy?

Thank you in advance for the responses.

Did CIC Mississauga definitely send your application to Dubai? Sometimes CIC sends it to the embassy of your citizenship, even if living in another place.

This is me speculating, but I would think it could be an issue that you're moving permanently back to Phillippines, if your application is in Dubai. What if you require an interview? Do you need a visa to enter Dubai with a Philippine passport?

Although it would mean a delay, i would think if your application actually is in Dubai that you will be better off contacting them to let them know that you are moving back to the Philippines permanently until receiving Canadian PR, that way if it is requires they can get the application transferred ASAP. Also, I believe that the Manilla processing time is less than Dubai.

Thank you for your reply.

The husband directly submitted our application to CIC Missisauga. And yes, unfortunately, a visa is needed to enter Dubai with a Phil. passport. I was hoping a change of residency would just require me to update my info so the other requirements (medical and interview if necessary) can be accomplished in the Philippines by then.

Thank you for the inputs.

Yes, I would have them change it. Better to get that ball rolling sooner than later if you're sure the application is in Dubai, because if you wait until they realize you have moved, it could create further delays.

I'm assuming you submitted a medical exam with the initial application because that is what is required, so even if you got the medical done in Dubai and move to the Philippines, the medical is still sufficient because it is from a designated practitioner on the list.

I haven't gone as far with my medical exam as this is supposedly "Part 2" of the process. Now this is really worrisome.

So I guess changing my residency would require me to resubmit forms and other documents that are Philippine-based this time.

First step, you need to find out where CPC-Mississauage sent your application - Abu Dhabi or Manila. It doesn't matter what you selected in your application, CPC-M may have sent it to either place.

If it was already sent to Manila then there is no issue. Just update your residential/mailing address with the visa office, and that's it.

However if it was sent to Abu Dhabi, you will need to request a complete change of processing office to Manila. This may cause a delay in your PR processing while CIC sorts out the change.

No, for Outland applications the medical should be done upfront.

I think you should immediately contact the embassy in Dubai where your application is. Once you have done that, then you can check the papers needed for the Philippines and if there is something different that is required, get it completed. You can then do your medical exam. You will get a special receipt from the medical practitioner. Once you have all of hat and you have received confirmation from the embassies that your application has been transferred and arrived in Manilla, then I would send them all of the newly completed forms, documents, and medical exam receipt.

This will probably cause some delay, but hopefully not too much. I know I asked before, but are you certain that your application is at the embassy in Dubai?

I haven't got any updates on my end yet. It was only my sponsor (the hubby) who they contacted for additional requirements (his tax forms and some more fees). I'm guessing they haven't sent the application to the embassy here in UAE yet. We must check on this then.

Thank you again. :)

Hello. Thank you for the input. We will check on this. Do you happen to know the process for requesting for such change? Will I make the request in the embassy here at UAE or thru CIC? Thanks.

So your husband hasn't received sponsor approval yet? This could be good. If they have contacted him then I assume that ey have given him a UCI number so they can match up his tax forms with the application in Mississauga. He could take this opportunity to let them know that you will be moving to The Philippines shortly, and hopefully this will help to not delay your application.

It depends where the app currently is. If it's still with CPC-M, contact CPC-M. If sponsor was already approved and it was forwarded to Abu Dhabi, then contact Abu Dhabi office.

Yes, not yet. Just an update from CIC asking for those requirements. Well thank you so much for this and all your other inputs. Huge help. :)

Duly noted. We'll inquire and update the soonest then. Thank you. Inputs are much appreciated. :)
