Change of Destination

I just wrote CIC about a change of address for me (and therefore change of destination for my wife), projected for about a month from now. Going to Vancouver for job re-assignment. I told CIC I don't yet have a permanent address there but provided one of friends with whom I'll stay temporarily (and who have also offered lodging for my wife should she get her visa & arrive sooner than expected). I just wanted to be forthright on everything (and avoid any snafus at the airport should they ask why my wife doesn't have a ticket on to Toronto) but then started to ask myself if this notification could cause a delay in the actual visa processing / should I just have waited until the visa was processed??? Does anyone have experience of this?

for spousal sponsorship, it doesn't matter at all where the applicant intends to land or where they will be living (unless of course it's in quebec). Changing your address to another province (other than quebec) is not going to put a delay in the process. It is not mandatory for the applicant to live where they say they intend to. It's a free country, and citizens move for whatever reasons they want/need, so why wouldn't PRs have this same right? If she was applying under a provincial nomination or a specific work visa, then it would matter. If residence was changed in or out of quebec, that would matter because of the extra processing steps.

Bottom line, cic isn't going to care that you will be settling in another location than originally planned. CIC isn't going to keep track of when people move around. They only need the mailing address of where the applicant will be so they can send the approval papers and PR card. It is not to keep tracks on the individual.
