My name is Marwah Chowdhury. I am currently a Masters student at the University of Alberta. I am here as an international student on a study permit. Recently, I am getting married on October 11, 2018. My spouse lives in Toronto and is working there under NOC category B. He is on his PGWP and his PR is currently on process.
However, now I would like to stay with him and move to Toronto on by november 2018. I would like to know how it is possible to do so.
1. Is it possible for an international student on study permit to change and apply for spousal owp?
2. if he adds me to his PR application (which in under process) do i have to apply for owp separately?
3. Since we are getting married on October 2018, it is difficult to receive the marriage certificate by november as it takes 8-10 weeks to get the certificate registered. Can we use marriage license instead? we also have a muslim legal contract which we can submit as well if required.
4. What is the processing time?
5. Some suggested us to do a flagpole as its an easier option.
