Change from spouse sponsorship to express entry

I am being sponsored under spousal PR category. My application is under process and it seems to be taking forever. Is it possible at all to apply under express entry? I have checked and I am eligible with around 600 points. I should have used this option earlier but thought spouse was the faster way.

Can I fill out the express entry profile, wait for an invitation and apply under that if my current application is still being processed?

Yes - you can apply under Express Entry.

Would it have any conflicts with establishing intent as the case officers see it. Spousal pr is so you can unite with your family whereas express entry is so you can work there.

No - no conflict. They are both immigration programs.
