Hi, Hope you all are doing good. I have a query and looking for your suggestions.
My spouse-to-be has a DOB in her birth certificate and passport, while all her other proofs (all education certificates, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, employment certificates etc.,) has a different DOB.
We tried to get it changed in her passport by applying for reissue of passport for DOB correction. But upon reaching passport office and after paying the fee, the officer rejected the application. Officer said, while issuing of this passport, my fiance had submitted birth certificate and 10th marksheet for identity proof. Though they both had different DOB, passport office consider birth certificate only as first document of proof for DOB and hence her passport has DOB as in birth cert. Now they cannot change it as per 10th certificate.
We tried to get the DOB corrected in the birth certificate by going to the Municipality office. They said everything is digitally recorded and they can't change the DOB as per 10th or education records, instead asking us to get the DOB changed as per birth certificate in all other proofs that's a hectic job.
Now my question is, can we apply a new passport stating that we lost her old passport, birth certificate and don't know the old passport number as well. Also while applying for new, we submit only 10th marksheet as proof for DOB, as it is sufficient enough for passport application nowadays?
Or is there any other quicker way to get this sorted?
We are planning to apply for her ECA and IELTS but would like to sort this passport DOB issue before it.
