If at a university or college, then research careers at different institutions. It is possible if the university is interested in your research background, publications etc. Make contact with Deans and professors. University would apply for LMIA (may be LMIA exempt) showing no one in Canada is qualified and then you apply for a closed work permit.

Will be very difficult to get a teaching position at a university. If you are a professor I would hesitate to come to Canada unless you had already secured a job. Canada has a limited amount of universities and very few teaching positions become available every year. Graduates are often prioritized for new positions. The only exception is if you have well known research that will attract publicity and research money to the university. Even if you are not looking for a teaching position as a PhD graduate who must be in their mid 40s it can be a very difficult transition and you may have difficulty getting your degrees recognized by employers in Canada. Immigration doesn’t make sense for everyone and in your 40s it will be difficult to qualify to immigrate.
