I'm based in South Asia and have completed BCS HEQ, UK (without project) and an MBA from the UK. I plan to switch my career into data or business analytics. This is a field I have no learning on and have barely any experiences on too.

Being a masters graduate I first tried to apply for another Masters. But I was refused because I have a low GPA and I have no experience in the field. Then, my agent suggested me to apply for a college to do a GD/C which is either one year or two years long. I also have the option to choose from either co-op (internship) inclusive or not within that study period.

However, in terms of the durations, the master's programmes I applied for, were just 16 months or 12 months, whereas the GD/C programmes are either 12 months or 24 months. I am in doubt whether to apply for a GD/C that is 12 months or 24 months. Because at the age of 31, I would love to finish it faster. But I am worried if a short GD/C programme like a 12 months' programme would not weigh enough for the visa officer, to think that I have an intention to study and thus refuse my application on the same grounds. I am really confused right now about which one to select.

I am also confused about why GD/Cs are longer than the Master's programmes. Appreciate if someone can please shed some light here. I have a genuine need to change my fields of work because I hate working in a stalling marketing segment that has no growth potential.
