AOR Received.
waiting..
Hi everyone. I am very scared to submit my OWP and sponsorship application next week because I don't know if i am eligible for the OWP.
I am an international student and my Visa is valid till 2017. and I have student permit and valid for 2 years as wll. do you think cic will provie an OWP for me?

is it true that I will be receiving my OWP in 2 months time after submitting my application?
and what are the reasons why some people did not received their OWp and being rejected?

Thank you. and have a niece day.

If you qualify, you receive the OWP four months after you submit the application.

As long as you are in status in Canada, you should have no issues qualifying for the OWP.

Are you still attending school full time? If so, your study permit should still be valid and you should have nothing to worry about.

If by any chance you've stopped attending school and dropped out - that could be a problem since study permits are now automatically canceled if an international student drops out of school for too long.

thank you Ms. Scylla I really appreciate your response.

yes I am currently studying full time and I just enrolled my subjects for the next semester and am full time students. so if I already receive my OWP is it okay to continue my study or my study permit will be automatically invalid?

I don't know all the details, but I think you can only hold one or the other. But you can work part-time (20 hr/week) with a study permit, without needing the OWP. So I don't see any reason you would need the OWP unless you are planning to drop out of school and work full time, you'd likely get AIP before your study permit expires.

Did you already get the OWP? If you did I think that will cancel out the study permit. If you haven't you might want to think about which one you want to do first.

yes I can work 20 hours per week but I prefer to work full time so my choice is to wait for my OWP by February or March? s is it okay to get the OWP and just forget my student permit?

Yes, I am pretty sure that once you are approved for the OWP that will automatically cancel out your study permit. I would wait for someone else to chime in though on this matter.
