Hi,

I am gathering documents for my express entry submission. One of the document request is vague. I am not sure what they are asking for. I did my undergrad in Canada in chemical engineering and all my work experience is also in Canada. One of the documents they have asked is Certificate of Qualification. Why does a person who has all his post secondary education and work experience in Canada need a certificate of qualification. And if so where would a chemical engineer get one? Also what exactly is a certificate of qualification?

Also what exactly is a certificate of qualification? This should have been your first question : )

CoQs are only for skilled tradespeople (carpenters, mechanics, plumbers). They get points for the certification because it is typically on-the-job learning as apprentices (so they get points for completing the apprenticeship and certification process in lieu of completing a degree).

Thank you . That really helps.
The issue is that in the required documents they have asked me to upload certificate of qualification

Well, if you answered "yes" to the CoQ question, then the system will ask you for the credential.

Did you get 50 pts for answering yes? If you did, you will have to subtract that 50 points from your CRS score, and see if your score would still be above the cut-off for your draw. If it now falls below the cut-off for your draw, you are not eligible, and you should decline the ITA and re-enter the pool.

I did not receive any points CoQ. That is the weird part. I have tried to redo all my information multiple times so it would get rid of the section but to no avail. Now the only thing I can think of is provide a letter of explanation in the section and submit my application. I have been trying to figure this out for 2 weeks now and I only have 20 days left for application submission.

Yes, provide a letter of explanation. If you received no points, then it won't have any impact on your application.
