How do you find the month and day when your Certificate of Citizenship was issued - it only says the year, 1989 - and the month and day is needed on forms now being completed to sponsor a spouse?

I don't know the date. It's not on the certificate and I believe that my parents lost the invitation and other related documents.

So when I sponsored my spouse, I put the year and I believe Jan 1 (or the month that I believed I became citizen) and I included a letter of explaination that I do not know the exact date when I became a citizen as I was a dependent apolied with my parents.

Another way is to apply for Search of citizenship records. But I didn't want to wait for that.
