Hi there,
I took the CELPIP general training test a few weeks ago, and now have the results in print. My scores are as follows:
10 listening/8 writing/8 reading/9 speaking.
As I take it, the writing bit in my case is very suspicious probably based on the computer algorithm judging my writing as I have exceeded the assigned word number limit (e.g. instead of 200 words, I typed up 215 words), hence being penalized for that as a result! I also suspect this since I am doing my Ph.D. and a well-published author in my field: mathematics, quantum physics, computer science etc. Got my MS.c. two degrees from UK and Sweden and my undergrad B.Sc. with honors (Hons) in the UK. Also my native language is a mix of British and American, able to lecture long sessions but during the test, condensing everything in a minute or so on the speaking component, relative to pictures + questions was difficult to manage!
Overall, I am partially satisfied and recommend this test compared to IELTS (I got an average of 8/9, low on writing (due to handwriting as I have written the piece in cursive, wasn't bothered to appeal it), speaking 8.5 out of 9), but not in full.
This was my first time and last time to take both exams perhaps.
In any case, I think this will satisfy the FSW language requirement
However, my question is, getting 9+ in all language modules/components gains 24 points out of 24 points according to the table presented on the Language testing – Federal skilled workers website.
According to my scores, will I get 22 out of 24 points? since (8 = 5 points) + (8 = 5 points) + (9 = 6 points) + (10 = 6 points) = 22 points?
