Hi, everyone
1-As a graduated international student, want to apply under CEC. I worked 7month full time now, however, I need to go back to home country for a month, is it ok to leave Canada and come back before I finish the 1950hours?
2-Interesting thing is, after call the CIC call center today, they give me the answer for working hours is different from what I got form the lawyer I did consultation with yesterday. The lawyer told me that I can work part time for more than 12 moth(said I can even work 24moth part time if I want to) , as long as I reach the 1950hours before I apply through CEC.The call center told me if I work part time, I have to find more than one at the same time to reach 1950hours within a year. which one can I trust?
Thanks

Hey,

1) yes you can leave Canada and come back to continue working towards your CEC hours ( I did it twice) and make sure you catch up to the total hours
2) Yes you can work part time to cover the required number of hours - bare in mind it will take you a bit long to cover the total hours obviously.
What the call center said was you might not be able to cover the required hours by working part time with one job so they suggest you to work two part time jobs (I suggest you this if you have only 1 year of work permit)

I worked in retail for an average 3-4 days a week with some days for 5 hours to 9 hours I applied and got my PR

I called 18889472100this morning, they told me that I have to work 37.5hours/week(more than one part time work) in order to meet the requirement, and just now, I called the consultation phone number under CANADAVISA.COM, the guy told me the working hours has to be continues when I asked if I can leave canada..... :( :(wanna go home...
Did you do any consultation with lawyer when you were ready to apply?

I know that you just have to meet the required number of hours for the year so in your case you need to work 2 part time jobs in the NOC category or 1 full time job which covers the 1950 hours so it doesnt matter how you get the required number of hours for the year, like I told u earlier I didnt work 37.5/hr at all.

Oh then you might not be able to go home and start then cause I worked for a month then went back and started again then ( I had a three year work permit) If your visit is not

I worked with a lawyer from start to finish.

Yes, it is OK.

You should be aware, tho, if you plan to apply in the Post-Graduate stream, you must accumulate the 1950 hours within 2 years. If you apply more than 2 years after you started working, work experience that is older than 2 years will no longer be eligible.

Well, as written above, both are correct. If you want to reach 1950 hours in 1 year and you are working part-time, you will have to have a second part-time job. But your lawyer is also correct, you do not need to complete 1950 hours in one year - you have up to 2 years to do so. You also need to be working for at least 12 months within those 24 months.

It is unclear if the problem you are having is a language problem. To be considered full-time, you need to work at least 37.5 hours per week. However, if you work fewer than 37.5 hours per week, you are also allowed to apply with the "full-time equivalent" of 1950 hours within 2 years.

and just now, I called the consultation phone number under CANADAVISA.COM, the guy told me the working hours has to be continues when I asked if I can leave canada.....

Working hours do NOT have to be continuous. But to qualify - you have to be employed at least 12 full months, and have worked at least 1950 hours within 2 years.

This information is all in the application guide.
