Hello Everyone,

I just created my EE profile yesterday and it said that I was eligible to apply under CEC. Now I have a peculiar case with respect to my foreign work experience that I hope someone can help me with. I know I might be jumping the gun considering that I haven't received an invitation, but I want to be prepared with the relevant documentation if at all I am invited.

When I created my profile, I initially added only my Canadian work experience under the work experience category and left out my foreign work experience. After having created the profile, I received my total score which indicated that I didn't receive any credit for foreign work experience. However, I was later told by my colleagues that I have to mention my entire foreign work experience and so I went ahead and added that information. It didn't seem to make any change to my total score (it remained the same as it was before updating my application):

Overall Score 466
CRS - Human Capital - Age 105
CRS - Human Capital - Level of Education 135
CRS - Human Capital - First Official Language Proficiency 136
CRS - Human Capital - Second Official Language Proficiency 0
CRS - Human Capital - Canadian Work Experience 40
CRS - Spouse - Level of Education 0
CRS - Spouse - First Official Language Proficiency 0
CRS - Spouse - Canadian Work Experience 0
CRS - Skill Transferability - Education 50
CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience 0
CRS - Skill Transferability - Certificate of Qualification 0
CRS - Arranged Employment 0
CRS - Provincial/Territorial Nomination 0

Now on searching the forum, I did read from some forum members that if I get the ITA, I will need to submit foreign work experience certificates even if I get the invitation to apply under CEC. However, a few others mentioned that I could delete the foreign work experience from my profile if I hadn't received credit for foreign work experience.

Here are my questions:

(1) Is there a way I can find out if my foreign work experience has helped me gain EE points and points under CEC? I presume that foreign work experience helps you get points under both separately? (Source: canada-immigration-discussion-board/urgent-under-cec-but-why-foreign-work-experience-documents-required-t283686.0.html post 2)

It would be extremely difficult for me to get reference letters from my previous employers (they have flat out refused to furnish any such work experience letters). So any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

From what you have written it appears you did not get any points for Foreign Work Experience. The question is did you include this in your profile? My analysis is based on what you have written:

CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience 0

If yes, then you need to substantiate everything in the profile at the date you get an ITA. If not, then you only need to substantiate Canadian work experience as you may be invited to apply under the 'CEC' program.

If you have not got an ITA yet, and have satisfied the requirements for CEC, you can safely delete Foreign Work Experience from your profile.

If foreign work experience lasted more than a year, it should have affected your overall CRS score. As you said it would be extremely hard for you to acquire work experience letter from your foreign employer, and considering 466 is very competitive score, you can probably leave it out of the profile and await ITA (most probably next draw). You must only provide evidence for experience you are claiming points for.

Thank you both very much for your responses.

I did not initially include it into my profile and got 466 points. Then when I actually included the foreign experience bit, the points didn't change.
Based on what you both have written,

(1) If I delete the foreign work experience from my profile now (I have not received the ITA until now) and the points do not change, does it mean that I have not received credit for it?

(2) Also, if i delete the work experience bit from my profile and only retain the canadian work experience, then is it sufficient to mention my foreignwork experience in the personal history space when I respond to the ITA? My only concern is that if I mention it in my personal history and not in my work history, will there be a problem?

Any help in this regards would be greatly appreciated

Thank you both once again for all the help!

That's correct, delete your foreign work experience now and the CRS score should be exactly the same as you are not getting CRS points for your foreign work experience.

(2) Also, if i delete the work experience bit from my profile and only retain the canadian work experience, then is it sufficient to mention my foreignwork experience in the personal history space when I respond to the ITA? You are fine to mention in Personal History, as per (1) you are are not getting CRS points for foreign Work Experience. No problems as I see it.

Any help in this regards would be greatly appreciated

Thank you both once again for all the help!
