CEC Foreign Work Experience Help

Hi there,

I was planning on applying under the CEC programme, I have one years Canadian experience in an NOC B job.

My question is related to my work experience from back home. I have one years experience in an NOC B job, the only problem is this company no longer operates and I have no one to contact for an employment reference letter. I have my initial contract as well as pay stubs, would this be enough evidence? I also have just under two years in an NOC C job, but I don't think I can get any points for this?

My CRS score would be 479 with the experience but would fall to 441 without it, which wouldn't be enough points.

Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It´s not impossible, but not easy, either. The main challenge is proving the job duties and responsibilities, if you cannot get the reference letter.

• Do you have any kind of evidence that the company is out of business?
• Do you have any former colleagues or manager that would be willing to write an informal letter of reference? The main issue would be to have some confirm your employment and hopefully be able to describe your job duties and responsibilities.
• Do you have any tax documents or other official employment related documents?

I can provide evidence that the company is out of business. I also have pay slips and I have my initial contract that actually lists my duties. Finding someone to write an informal reference might be harder, it was a very small company and I haven’t had much luck finding people on LinkedIn, although I could try reaching out on other platforms. I am wondering if my contract with the duties will be enough or whether I should try and find someone to back it up too?

The contract is better than nothing, but that was written before you actually did the work - so it is not the same thing as an employer stating that you actually did the work for a certain period of time. It would be much better if you could find someone to back it up.
