Can I as a tourist carry prescription drug to a friend in Canada?
Any limit? Do I have to have the prescription on me?

No, you cannot. You can only bring prescription drugs for yourself or for someone travelling with you.

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/dm-md/d19/d19-9-1-eng.html

27. Visitors to Canada and non-residents arriving from abroad are permitted to import a single course of treatment or a 90-day supply of a prescription drug hand-carried for their personal use or the use of a person under their care and with whom they are travelling.

However, if the drugs are reasonably benign despite being prescription, and the amount you're bringing in is small, CBSA has been known to turn a blind eye to it.

People do bring in a couple of strips (20-30 pills) of low level antibiotics, stomach medication, blood pressure pills etc. If caught, the pills will be taken away from them but they are unlikely to face any real punishment.

It's still illegal though and I would counsel you to follow the law.

Practically speaking I know it's different, but if you try bringing in 100 sleeping pills and you get sent to jail, you can't say that other people were allowed.

Do what you will with the information.

If the person has been in Canada for over 90 days they are required to purchase medication in Canada. Wouldn’t risk having my file flagged for future searches for a friend. You could get arrested if they are controlled substances. Bad idea to bring medication with other people’s name on it.
