Probably there is a limit on the gold value..$10'000 and below, no custom to be paid.. as to carry as much as you can.. You may have to pay import duty on that. Email Canada customs to find out, http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/contact/

If they ask to show your funds, then you show, if not, don't. But since you are obliged to bring in a certain amount depending on the size of your family, anything more than $10'000 has to be declared anyhow. I would bring in the minimum required in cash and travellers cheques, if you have more, simply open a Canadian bank account and transfer the money from bank to bank.

thank u so much for the reply..

isn't this $10,000 limit on the cash? or its on gold as well??

i will contact the canadian customs as well.

Your cash and jewellery should be of an estimated amount of 10,000 C$ not more than that !

For further & exact info pls email Canada customs.
