Hi to all,

we are planning on moving to Canada in March 2017.
I´am checking the Internet for everything I can think of that helps us for the start there.

And I came to the Car insurance.
I checked on BCAA.com how high my estimated Insurance quote is gone be.
For a 2007 Audi Q7 V6 VDR AWD, no accidents, pleasure use only, collision and comprehensive deductible at 200$, and liability limit 800$...
year first licensed in Canada 2006 (I know I haven't been there, but my license in Germany is from 2006)

It says something around 875$ a year.
Is this realistic?

The other question:
What does Liability limit mean?
As higher I chose the limit as more I have to pay.

I do understand the collision and comprehensive deductible.
I have to pay $200 out of my own pocket if something happens.

I hope everything is clear enough. If not write me and I´ll explain.

Thx for replies.

You HAVE to insure your car with ICBC..what you got quoted is just additional to the compulsory insurance. ICBC will add another $1600 on top of that per year. Depending on your record in Germany you might get some discount.. I am on 40% discount and still pay around $145 a month on a 2006 Chrysler 300.

BC is not cheap to insure your car.. sorry.

ICBC insurance is sold through autoplan brokers, one of which is BCAA. That is probably a basic autoplan insurance quote, not an additional top-up.

You are right.. it is sold there too. But if I pay $145 a month on 40% discount, pleasure use, with collision, theft and 2 million liability, that makes $4350 per year on no discount.

Thx to all for the information.

Could somebody please explain my liability problem?
