Hi.
First of all, I wanted to thank anybody taking the time to read through this and willing to try to help.
My situation is as follows: I'm a Spaniard that came to Montreal on September 2016 under a Young Professionals IEC visa, to work for a visual effects company. After that year, I got extended on this same company and extended my stay successfully by obtaining a new work permit via IMM5710.
Fast forward to late April 2018. I get a job offer with a much better pay on another company in Montreal. They take care of my work permit application, strangely they tell me they can't apply for the C14 LMIA exemption, without giving me a reason for it. AFAIK, most of the visual effects companies in Montreal will take advantage of that to get faster work permits, but they don't. So, we send my CAQ for Temporary Workers application, and will send the LMIA afterwards. The time goes by without any news, one month, two months... We get an acknowledgement of receipt on the first week of May.
Yesterday, the recruiter called me stating that my application was refused. She said that somebody from immigration called her and told her that I didn't meet the requirements for the CAQ because I didn't have 5 years of experience. This sounds incredibly weird to me since 1st, I've got several friends who are working in Montreal and obtained a CAQ with little to zero experience, and 2nd, because I wasn't able to find that requirement anywhere on the internet.
Right now they're in the middle of calls with an immigration lawyer to see what can they do, and they're also waiting for the written refusal letter.
In the meantime I wanted to ask here if anybody knew any case similar to mine, and what my options could be right now, given that my current work permit and contract both expire mid-July.
Again, thank you so much to anyone that can help.
