Hi, my name is Zayd, I'm an international student from Saudi arabia and an aspiring architect.

I applied for a CAQ after being accepted into the Architectural Technology program at Vanier College in Montreal and my application was refused.

I was a student at Concordia university before this and had a valid CAQ/study permit but I quit the university to change to college because the fees were too much and I was still 17 back then and I didn't do very well so I decided to take a 1 year break in my homeland (which I self studied in) to go back and pursue my studies with a better mentality and a more mature mind.

I sent everything they asked me for my new CAQ application and there was one missing file which was the official transcript from Concordia, I sent it to them as soon as it arrived and I did it as they instructed me, 2 weeks later I got the confirmation that they received my additional document and that they will review it ASAP.

Fast forward to now and they refused my application.
Why you'd ask?
Because:
1. "Studying is not the main purpose of your stay"
2. "You failed to send us all the documents requested in the same shipment. We can't proceed with the review of your file."

The first reason makes no sense whatsoever since I obviously applied for a CAQ because I wanted to study and its the main reason why I wanted to go there, I applied using the acceptance letter that I got from Vanier College so its natural that I'm going there to study.

And for the second reason, as I stated above they clearly were okay with me sending the missing file and I did send it to them as they told me so I don't really see why they now have a problem with me not sending everything in the same shipment.

Can someone please tell me what should I do now? I'm so lost right now

Thank you so much and have a nice day

The first refusal reason is likely linked to your previous studies in Canada. Since you failed to complete your previous studies in Canada, they have concerns you aren't a genuine / serious student. It sounds like you first came to study at a university, then dropped down to the college level, and then dropped out completely and when home. That unfortunately works against you. Did you provide any sort of explanation for why you failed to complete your studies when you were previously in Canada, what you've been doing since then and why you are now ready to study in Canada seriously?

No I didn't include any sort of explanation regarding how I failed to completely my previous studies since it wasn't listed in the required documents, but I'm currently writing something that's a bit similar for the letter of appeal
