cant retrieve old msn chat history. Its not there anymore. I downloaded the msn application to check if chat history would be there and I cant even log in, I get the message to download skype which is the new thing.
How do i explain that in my application
please help?

What VO are you being processed out of? I can't help with the lost chat logs, but unless you're from a difficult VO, you could very well submit an application without them. Granted, our application was processed out of Manila, but we submitted none of that stuff . . . chats, emails, phone logs, etc.

Unless she has some red flags in her application...

I know this is a long shot, but do you still have the computer you used to chat on MSN? For example, I had my old laptop from 2009 still and the MSN chat logs are saved externally on the computer. You could look them up and try to find them. That's what I did.

That is fantastic idea. Unfortunately I don't have that old computer. The only reference to the msn chats would be in a few old emails where we reminded eachother to chat on msn after he got back from class. I don't have phone bills showing long distance because we used phonecards - I mean who is going to call direct without a phonecard? That's not practical. We have been together 5 years. We are genuine to eachother. I don't have receipts for gifts he gave me... It's not like I wanted to return any of them. They are sentimental items. Do they like to see pics of jewellery he has given me even though I dont have receipts. The only receipt would be one for the tiffany ring he bought me which cost £5,000 We have photos and love letters I sent him. I don't know what else to add - letters from family and friends. That would be it oh and also flight documentation when we visited eachother. Is enough?

Hm. I would ad those emails for sure. Do you have a history of the numbers dialed with the phonecard? You could show those if you can. You can show the photos and love letters for sure (if you are comfortable), flight documentation for sure, pictures of each other on trips, if you're married put a decent amount of photos from the wedding in there. If you have FB, add some screenshots of your page and his page showing your relationship out in the open for everyone to see..

Also, the immigration officers are human: explain why you can't show those old MSN logs and call logs. Explain just like you did to me, that you can't find them anymore as you don't have the old computer and you never considered saving them 5 years ago: how were you to know you'd need them later!! Like, for my application I told them I hadn't saved some old emails from 2009, because at the time we were only just beginning to start dating, I wasn't considering what it would look like when we were married and applying for his permanent residency! To an extent, they will understand that some things are just human nature not to keep and thus cannot be documented.

Note that internet chat logs (like skype chat, msn chat, etc) is considered by CIC as towards the bottom of importance for proofs or relationship (regardless of how many pages you send). If you don't have many red flags and have a visa-exempt passport, I would not bother with the chat log. We didn't include any with my wife's application.
