I understand its frustrating :-( But common law i think isnt too easy to do, but i dont know enough about it, maybe if your relationship still has a chance, you could marry if you both want to and reapply then. If you guys mean much to each other you shouldnt give up yet. Plus maybe try to figure out first why it took so long before you withdraw, get your notes maybe.

We applied common-law and it was very easy and very straightforward, we just had more to prove, but we already had all the evidence before we applied so it was easy for us :)
we are almost done now.
but we did apply outland. so we have been waiting 7 months since the app was sent and its on the very last step now.

it is frustrating but you just have to be patient.
have you tried to contact buffalo or send a case specific enquiry or order gcms notes to see whats taking your application so long?

@ Leisa P, I have contacted contacted CIC-call center and was told that my file was transferred to CPP-O in July 7, 2012. I have been patient and I am still trying to be.

I would love to take a tour oF any CPC. Just curious to know if they are actually working hard or just sitting around and taking 5 coffee breaks.

lol. its government im sure they take alot of coffee breaks :-\

was your application almost complete before they transfered it to buffalo?

Hey man, i love Canada, but i am moving here for my partner, not for the country.
If my Immigration papers don't work, i'm not going to leave my wife, we'll find other means to be together.

Posting stuff like this is not helping your case to prove you have a legit relationship

I was asked to pay RPRF in April 2012 which i paid immediately but my lawyer sent the receipt to Buffalo and not missisauga. I called CIC in July 2012 and i was told that they have not received the payment. I had to resent the receipt to Missisauga in July 2012 and it was processed 3 days later.

you guys atleast get dealt within a years to year and halfs time max in some cases... lol we lose our sanity that its 26 months to god knows how long max for our visa office...

for you guys they take coffee breaks, for us they take coffee days off... lolz...

and the lol's here is me pissed off... lol...

thanks to all the clowns that cheat and still get here in 5-6 months... and straightforward honest cases that wait 1+ years

@McDutch I have a legit relationship but love cannot put food on the table. I have been sitting at home for over 3 months and wiring in money from my country to keep up in Canada. I cant hang around like a looser because I am waiting to be given PR. My woman just has to relocate to my country with me.

In this PR waiting game there are 2 options, OPTION A: Patience. OPTION B: Go back to your country with you spouse.

In my case i have chosen OPTION B.

GOD BLESS CANADA.

lolz, i know what you are saying, but you do have to look at the other side of the coin... places where it takes 2+ years, you will see plenty of posters time to time come around and post about divorces and withdrawing their files... we can only know when we are in the given situation, and everyone's life has a different curve on it... so I can understand this guy's sentiment, although he should remain strong in my humble opinion as well... these are the tough testing waters for our relationships...

I might not have worded it in the best way, but i think it's in his best interest to delete this post.

Because you are voicing yourself on a public forum.
Although it will MOST likely not happen to you, can you imagine a CIC officer reading your post and somehow link it to your file?

Even if there is a 1% chance that this would happen, is it worth it?

I've been also waiting for a year now and still no word on my application in Buffalo. I feel like you some days and want to quit this process. I don't know how long more I'll have patience for. I've been out of work for 1.5 years now :( On top of that I have to buy emergency insurance every 3 months, and paid to the lawyer twice of the amount you paid. Oh well..this is very frustrating!

Im a bit confused too, cause you said "Good bye to my common law partner you would have to go find another man" sounded like you wanted to give up your relationship too.
And i agree with saying if you cant live in canada with my partner, you just look into another possiblity even if its hard to do. I have a case too, where i cant just say "hey hubby come live with me then instead" cause he got a kid he cant leave canada just like that. Still i would never give up on him ever and we would try to find a solution.
But the waiting is very frustrating for all of us and you have moments you want to give up, i understand that but theres usually other options to try if the way you chose is not working out in the end.
