Hello,

I applied for a Canadian Tourist Visa to visit Canada on January 27th. I applied from Austin, Texas hoping to make the trip on March 6, however i have not received an approval since. Given that more than double the normal processing time has passed i called IRCC from a VOIP and was informed that my application had been sent to the Lima, Peru Visa Office.

My question is that when I applied, I filled my information with the address I was staying in the US, also i gave my biometrics at the Austin application support office. I’m supposed to return to Peru in 1 week and I have completely lost hope that I will receive the visa before i leave. Should I go ahead and update IRCC now, will there be an issue given that all the other application steps were completed in the US.

I would appreciate any help,

Thanks in Advance!

IRCC can move an application for processing anywhere to distribute work load. In your case, it was sent to Lima. You can update information but doesn't not mean that your file will be transferred back to the US.

Thanks for the reply!
My concern is that if the processing time that appears for applications made in the US applies to me or given that the visa office processing mine is in Lima, it will now take the Peruvian processing times. There is a 100 day difference between processing times so it would be very helpful to know. In addition, does that mean that I will have to send my passport to the Lima, VAC or I can still send it to the nearest mine to me.

Best, and thanks in advance

You can send passport to VAC in US Or wherever you are. Can’t tell you about processing times.
