I know that these questions have probably been asked many times before but I really want to know exact answers to my specific situation...

My husband and I are both Canadian born citizens and while traveling the United States in March 2012, went into early labor and had my baby in Tennessee.

We chartered a private plane to get her home and had no problems getting her back into Oshawa, Ontario, Canada with only her temporary US birth certificate.

We have finally just received her long form birth certificate from the US and are going to be applying this week for her Canadian Certificate. We travel quite a bit and are hoping to plan a couple of vacations and trips and are aware that we can apply for a "temp passport" (sorry...not sure of the correct terminology), but here are my questions...

1) Should I be mailing her application in or going in in person somewhere to apply and show all proof? If so, where do I go (we live close to Toronto, Ontario).

2) If I mail in her application, how long does it usually take to receive the "accepted and reviewing" letter? I would like to apply for the temp passport asap as we are trying to plan a trip for September back into the United States and I am assuming that I need the proof of application being submitted before I apply for the temp passport?

I'm so confused and I honestly thought it would be fairly simple considering that both my husband and I are Canadian born citizens.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated and thank you so much for taking the time to help me!!!
