Hi,

I am a landed PR holder & wanted to ask if CSC could help me get a job related to my field faster, compared to my international experience & MBA + CIMA designations?

While reviewing the CSC material, I realised I already have learned it somewhere either in my Bachelors or Masters, so it's basically a repetition for me. I also have some experience in Mutual funds & Investment banking, which is also why the course material is very familiar. So now I am wondering, should I spill $1400+ for this certification? Would it be useful?

Thanks.

It depends. CSC is good for roles like financial advisor or FSR. But most specialized roles like insurance sales, mutual funds sales etc have their own licencing certificates. It wouldnt hurt to have it just in case but I don’t know if it will help you a lot. MBA or CPA/CA seems way more valuable.

Something that most people have but doesn’t add a ton. It is pretty basic.
Whatever makes my resume more Canadian and less foreign? Just a thought :)

Update: I didn’t have to sit for the exam per se but I did go through the material before appearing for interviews. Convinced the recruiters that i already have most of the knowledge and they allowed me to join as is. However I do have to sit for other required exams in next few months and some internal certifications as well.

My suggestion is, brush up your knowledge (I went through my old MBA material) and get info on the canadian market. It will help. You could also sit for CSC but that doesn’t guarantee you a job.
