Hi all

could anyone who applied to usa visit b1/b2 visa share confirm this . is it true that those who hold permanent residency status in Canada get 10 year multiple entry visa to the statement regardless of your country of origin?

many members have confirmed this on the forum but in the same time others mentioned that the validity of the visa they get is the same which they used to get in their home countries before they become a PR of Canada

so could anybody with recent experience shed some light on this , is there a rule or those who are getting 10 year are simply getting lucky!

Well, to put it in perspective, a Canadian PR from Iran, Syria or the other 4 countries under the US travel ban probably won't get a visa at all. It will all be dependent on the strength of your application and the implied risk you will overstay in the US. Same as it's always been. The Canadian PR status possibly makes it a little more likely to be approved, but could also be looked at as it was acquired as a means to gain easier access to the US. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.

Thanks for your reply , actually my question is not about whether to get the visa or not with the pr , those members who are gettting a 10 year multiple entry visa already have got several visa's before they became a pr but they used to get 1 or 2 year max

for me i'm not from the 6 bnned countries and i got many times a visa for the us in my origional country but onl for one year , so i'm wondering that if it possible to get the 10 year multiple entry visa when i'm applying from canada , but it seems that each member has a different story !

The point being, having a Canadian PR may have some influence (either positive or negative), but ultimately it will come down to the strength of your application. My wife got a 10 year visa for the US from her home country prior to getting her PR, most likely based on her past travel history to places like Canada, Australia and the UK.

hi
and thanks for sharing , but from what i understand the visa period they give someone depends on his country of origion , so for example in your wife case i'm sure she is from a country which ( the usa officer) is allowed to give up to 10 years visa to , in my case the usa embassy has never give more than 1 year b1/b2 visa to anyone , in other countries they may give 2 or 5 years , but what i'm trying to know if whether the PR who applies form canada could automatically mean that we are granted 10 years entry assuming the he has a strong case and ties

thanks

thanks

Actually, my wife came from a country with an extremely low success rate for getting a US visa at all.

thanks for sharing , my country also has an extremly high refusal rate but never ever they give it's citizens more than one year no matter what the scenario is , i hope the pr will make me get the 10 years this time instead of applying each year it would really make me feel more important lol
