Me and my wife are both Canadian Permanent Residents residing in the US. In November, 2008 the Canadian goverment announced certain changes to the Canadian immigration system with new regulations.

My question is:Due to the above new regulations, have there been any changes to the rule to maintain the permanent residency status.? As per my knowledge the residency obligation to maintain canadian permanent residency status stated that - To keep your status as a permanent resident, you must live in Canada for at least two years within a five-year period i.e minimum of 730 days physical presence in Canada at the 5-year mark.

Thank You,
