Canadian passport expires in 10 months

Hi,

I have a Canadian Passport and have been living in India for the past 3 years. My passport expires in March 2011. Up till what time can I travel (i.e. 3 months before expiry date, 1 month before expiry date) and where can I renew my passport? Do I have to renew my passport in Canada only?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Passport validity requirements are decided by the individual countries where you're traveling, but as for renewing the passport, see this page for instructions. I believe that you should be able to go to any Canadian high commission to submit your application for passport renewal.

Many countries require that your passport be valid for 6 months after the date of entry. So plan accordingly.
