Hello there. I am a Canadian citizen looking to marry my Brazilian boyfriend. We met in the USA at university and have been together for 4 and a half years. I have been to Brazil twice (soon to be three times as I am going in April!) and he has been to Canada twice. We both worked in the US for about a year, but when his 1 year visa expired and the company that promised to renew it suddenly downsized, he was forced to return to Brazil. I remained in the US for another 6 months but now have finally returned to Canada now working full time with a great job.
We are now looking at the possibilities of getting him to Canada. I would appreciate any advice on this matter. Should we get married in Canada, Brazil? I have looked at sponsoring him but then technically he would have to be my spouse right? So we would have to delay on the sponsorship application until we get married? I wouldn't consider us in a common law relationship as we havent lived together. I have done some research on using different programs such as immigroup to help get all the correct documents in place, what do you think of something like this?
Th main thing with us is that we have spent a significant amount of time apart and would like to finally settle down and be together. The process I understand can take some time (and money!) but please I would appreciate any advice!
Thanks!

You can get married wherever you wish. And yes - you will have to get married before you submit the application to sponsor. If you haven't already - read the first post here:
