We are living in the U.S. and have been married for 2 years. We were going to start the paper work from here, but would like to move to Canada sooner than the paperwork would be complete. Would would the procedure be to make the move and what paperwork do we need to do to get across the border?

A Canadian citizen can sponsor the spouse while in USA as there is intention to return to Canada sooner. If already submitted sponsorship application to CPC Mississauga, show the fee payment receipt and copy of application at the boarder, if asked. However, an American citizen is visa exempted for Canada and there should not be any impediment at the boarder for accompanying the spouse as visitor. The allowed period may be up to 6 months depending the discretion of the BSA. The American spouse may be required to prove the intention of returning to USA, at the boarder.
