Last night on the national news there was a story on crackdown and revoke of Canadian citizenship for thousands of Landed PR's that obtained citizenship due to fraudulent practice. The story went on to describe they eventually found out due to thousands of Landed Immigrants registered to the same addresses, that were in turn organized by Immigration consultants.
What the accused, and eventually convicted, immigrants goal was to achieve a Canadian passport only for the ease of travel around the world, and did not complete their end of the agreement by maintaining residence in Canada.
What this means for us:
- Well, I sum it up logically that this consumes several resources that could be processing our applications or aiding in smooth document control
- On a positive note (for me), I now believe that all that have gone through immigration consultants will now face enhanced scrutiny, as that is what the crackdown will now focus on
Lastly, I'd like to say that I am truly appalled at the magnitude of immigration fraud for my free (and your soon to be) country, and I do understand now the overall process to try to weed out as many of these as possible. However, if this many fell through the cracks, one has to ask, why are simple applications that have a cut and clear case still being refused.....and better yet, if I am refused for ANY reason, I may just have a "ye old fashioned Canadian flag burnin'"
To all those that are involved in fraud....you screw it up for the rest of us, that truly want our families together. The system is fair to immigrants with basic requirements to achieve a higher standard of living from less fortunate countries....and if you cannot comply with these requirements you DO NOT get to reap the benefits and I truly hope you are found and blacklisted.
They say if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen......well I say, I you can't take the cold, get out of the country.....correctly and without any benefits associated with it.
