Hi,

I worked from Jan 2013 to Dec 2014 in Canada. Till when my experience will be valid to give me CRS points & then will be considered as & when my application reaches for evaluation? I mean will this experience be counted if I receive an ITA & I submit my application before Dec-2016? Or will it expire earlier or will it be valid beyond that? Which step should I complete before which date to get maximum benefit? Will it convert from 2 years experience to 1 year experience at some point?

Valid for 10 years counting back from date of post ITA submission.

Quoting from EE ministerial instructions below...

Canadian work experience

(3) For the purposes of this section, Canadian work experience is work experience that

(a) is acquired by a foreign national in Canada in one or more occupations listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix;
(b) consists of full-time work experience, or the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience, with one or more employers; and
(c) is acquired within the 10-year period preceding the day on which points are assigned to the foreign national under subsection (1).

What Asivad has explained is true of the Comprensive Ranking System, the score you will receive under Express Entry to your Expression of Interest (1st stage application).

But if you want your Canadian experience to help you qualify under the Canadian Experience Class, your experience is valid for three years from the date you submit your 2nd stage (CEC) application.

Depending on exact dates, you have nearly 2 years of Canadian experience, you only need one to qualify for CEC.

But if you want your January 1, 2013 experience to count, you must submit your 2nd stage application before the end of December 2016, yes.

Precisely.

To qualify under CEC class, OP has to submit their post ITA application by Dec '16. They might still be eligible for FSW after that but won't be eligible for CEC after Dec '16.

Thank you both for your response.

If it is valid for 3 years, then it means my 1-Jan-13 to 29-Jan-13 experience is already expired. So whenever I submit my 2nd stage application after ITA, it will not be considered 2 years for the purpose of CEC, right?

I remember that it was the rule as per CEC before EE, that Canadian experience is valid for 3 years. Can you please provide a reference to confirm that it is still the case?

For CEC eligibility, at least 1 year of Canadian work experience within the last 3 years.
