Hi Folks,

I have a question which might have been answers. Ignore if it is very basic as I am new to this process and I got contrasting views when I looked it in the web.

I am working in Canada on a Job offer and it will continue for 18 months. After moving here, i am finding filing for a PR is a good idea.
Upon exploring I was told that I don't have sufficient points and my current job offer will not yield any points as it is Intra Company transfer so would not come with LIMA Assessment. Is that right?

Other option I was told is to wait for an year and apply for Canadian Experience class which is different category and chances are high that I can get an ITA as the points for this is not around 450 . If you meet basic criteria of language and qualification, you will be pretty much receive the ITA. Can some one guide me on this?

Since you are here on an ICT work permit, you must work in your job for one full year in Canada before you can claim 50 points for having a job offer.

Your understanding of the Canadian Experience Class program is incorrect. It is not true that you will receive ITA if you meet the basic criteria. You must also have enough points. Right now you need 450+ points to be selected for CEC.

Thanks scylla for this clarification. May be I was misinformed by few other folks who moved to Canada.

Since I can claim 50 points after completing one full year in current job, I will not be able to get 450+ points due to my age. I have healthy IELTS score and Master from UK with 10+ years experience. I will have 430 points. What are other options, can I apply for any other PNP programs or some province may pick my profile based on the credentials or they strictly go on point basis?
BTW, I was told we get another 50 points if I get a different job offer from a Canadian Employer, how easy is it to get. My field is IT and I am an Enterprise Architect working in a reputed company and spent 8+ years in US.

No - you will not get another 50 points if you get a different job offer from a Canadian employer. You can only claim the 50 points once for one job offer. Job offers are generally extremely difficult to get since your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA.

You can certainly look into the PNP programs. That's probably the best option if you don't have sufficient points. Each program has its own requirements so you'll need to look into them to see what it takes to apply / be selected. Good luck.

When you say you have a healthy IELTS score, do you mean you have absolutely maxed it out? CLB 10?

If you haven't, try calculating with a CLB 10 IELTS. You get extra points for education and foreign work experience.

If you're married, what about your spouse? If she maxes her IELTS, you can get 20 more points. Does she have a master's as well?

Yes I have included my spouse as well. We took IELTS and both of us got 8.5, which gives us maximum points, I think it is 24 points in my case and 20 for my spouse. I am getting 430, if I include 50 points for canadian experience assuming I am filing pr one year later. She does not have master, she is in medical profession (Dentist) and do have a Professional diploma, so we are getting additional points for the same.

The primary negative factor is I am getting 0 points because of my age. Any suggestions other than I know I have to do some study out here in Canada.

I am confused.

My understanding are these are considered mutually exclusive.
If I have 1 year canadian experience in last 3 years I get 50 points whether I have a job offer or not on hand. This adds based on living and working in Canada.
Secondly if I have a job offer from qualified Canadian employer I get 50 points.

Isn't it the system works that way - Adding both these two we get 100 points. Am I missing something here? I tried CSR tool also the same way and it showed up 470 points for me.

Sorry - the way you had it phrased, I thought you were asking about claiming 50 job offer points for your current job and 50 additional job offer points for the new job you find.

Yes - the experience and job offer points are mutually exclusive. If you want to claim the job offer points, you should focus on doing that through the role you have now (ICT) by working in this role for a full year and then getting a letter from your employer confirming that they will continue to employ you for at least a year after you become a PR.
