I am Canadian, my fiancé is Egyptian. We want him to come to Canada in November, where we will be married, and then I will sponsor him to stay. What are our options for getting him into Canada? A tourist visa? Some other option? Thanks!
A tourist visa (TRV) is your only option. However the trick is that to be approved for a tourist visa, he will have to demonstrate that he has strong ties to his home country and has no plans on remaining in Canada long term. If CIC determines that he has plans to remain in Canada so that you can sponsor him, the TRV will be refused.
He must show strong ties to Egypt. Getting a TRV improves if fiancé has a lot of travel history to show that he abides immigration rules.
If all else fails in getting TRV, you would have no choice but to fly to Egypt to get married. Once you have the marriage papers, you can begin submitting spousal PR paper work.
