Hi members,
Greetings to you all! I am a new member in this Forum, having joined today, just a while ago.
My wife and I live in India, hold Indian Passports and have 10 years Multiple Entry Visitor Visas to Canada, valid until June 2026. We have visited Canada several times during the past 10 years, as my daughter lives there. with her family.
We also hold valid 10 years Multiple Entry B2 Visitors Visa for entering USA.
I need some clarity w.r.t. visa validity period of our stay in Canada. In the past, every time we had visited Canada, we used to get visa stamping for 6 months stay at a stretch, though we always returned to India, with in 3 / 4 months. However, during our proposed visit early next year, after initially staying in Canada for 2 months, we intend going to the USA for around 3 months and return to Canada for a second stint of stay of 3 months. Since our original visa stampings, given by the Canada Immigration Official, on our arrival from India, would be for a maximum period of 6 months only, its validity would expire mid-way through our 2nd stint stay there, making it essential for us, in the normal course, to apply for an extension and get it approved.
My specific query is:
When we exit Canada to visit USA and return after a gap of 2 months, will the Immigration Officer at the Border Post, consider our re-entry afresh and be putting a fresh stamping valid for a further period of 6 months or he would allow us on the basis of the original stamping only? In case he follows the first option, it would spare us from the trouble of having to apply for an extension.
Shall be grateful for valuable inputs from informed members.
