Canada Supervisa

I have a query. I have a friends parent who are in Canada with Supervisa, so they are allowed to stay for 2 years as this is the initial year.
Now, 1 year is complete and now they want to visit USA or India. When they return will they be able to complete the 1 year(which is the balance of the initial 2 year stay allowed) or will they be only allowed to stay for 6 months?

It will be at the discretion of CBSA officer they talk to when re-entering Canada.
