Hi my girlfriend is Irish and has been in Canada for almost a year and a half under the Canadian Experience visa. Before she came to Canada she was denied entry to the USA because she was told by a potential employer to enter under a visitor visa instead of a work visa. While the customs lady was aware that my girlfriend wasn't aware that what she was doing was illegal she still had to turn her away at the border and enter her into the US database as denied entry and place a temporary ban on her re-entering the States.

So, my question is since that Canada is now checking Visa applicants against the US database will she have trouble getting her CEC Visa again or be denied all together based on what happened a year and a half ago? Any possible suggestions or ideas would be a massive help. Thanks!

She will probably have to declare it on the application. All visa applications I know of ask if you've ever been denied a visa or entry into another country. She should write a letter stating what happened.

The US and Canada do share information. If she failed to admit it and CIC/CBSA finds out, she could face a 2 year ban.
