One of my family friends applied and got a 5year visiting visa to Canada..is leagal to work and apply for a work permit while staying there as a visitor?? What are the restrictions for a visitor in Canada??im an active candidate in the express entry pool..thought to get in to Canada as a visitor and get a job offer and receive the ITA..pls advice me

BTW, 5 year visitor visa in Canada doesn't mean a visitor can stay in Canada for 5 years...

Good point.

Just means that you become more or less visa-exempt for 5 years and can come and visit multiple times during that period without having to apply for TRV each time.

Your maximum stay is still 6 months each time, without applying for an extension.
