Seeking Advice on Agricultural Business Investment & LMIA Pathway

Hello all , ,

I hope you are doing well.

I am exploring a potential immigration pathway that I believe could benefit both the local economy and my family’s future in Canada. My intention is to purchase agricultural land, establish a farming operation, and register it as a company. The goal would be to operate a productive farm while creating employment opportunities, including bringing my brothers to Canada through the LMIA process to work and manage the farm.

Before proceeding, I would like your professional guidance on:

Whether this type of agricultural investment and company formation could support LMIA applications.

The viability of using this pathway to help my brothers immigrate and work legally in Canada.

Key legal, immigration, and compliance considerations I should plan for at the outset.

I am confident this venture could contribute to the local agricultural sector, generate jobs, and strengthen rural development. Your expertise would be invaluable in helping me ensure this plan aligns with Canadian immigration requirements and business regulations.

I look forward to hearing your advice and discussing potential next steps.

Kind regards,
Zunera

Get a good Canadian immigration lawyer for this venture. You want to buy a large farm and not a small farm with a few acres. What type of farming do you have experience to run? Assume you are Canadian or PR. It will take years to develop your business and be eligible for TFWs.

As for bringing family that will be more difficult. You need to post the full time jobs on job boards and prove no Canadian or PR can do the job. Assume your brothers are very experienced so no one in Canada can do the job. Then if in an area of unemployment over 6% the job must be high wage (over $34 per hour) which is not sustainable for a farming operation.

How many jobs for Canadians will your ag business generate? Most farms hire temporary workers just for the season not have a staff of full time workers throughout the year. Also foreign workers come for the season and then return home.
