Can we sponsor a US green card holder or a US citizen parent?

Hi there,

My parents are both green card holders, but I don't like them to be there. They even want to be citizens there.

My questions are:

1. Can I sponsor them?
2. Should I tell them not to apply for citizenship?
3. What is the best time for me to apply for the sponsorships?

1. Yes - if you meet the income requirements to sponsor.
2. It doesn't matter.
3. The earliest you can apply is January 2017 (it's too late for this year). Again, you'll have to meet the income requirements in order to apply.

Is there a fixed amount for the income requirement, or do I need to calculate it? Do you have a link to the information. I went to "Determine if you are eligible to sponsor", but I did not find anything other than what you said on number 1.

It's a specific amount and you have to meet it for three years in a row for the number of people in your family (you, your dependents and the parents you are sponsoring). You can find these amounts in the link below. Everything is on the CIC web site as usual.
