I am currently on PGWP and doing CGA courses at the same time. I confirmed in details with CGA about my situation, they said I just need to be resident (not to confuse with PR) in the country and I should be fine.

Hi,

Study Permits are required for those courses for which you need admission in Canadian institute. In your case CMA Is a professional designation for which you need enrollment to association and not any admission.
You can also join any institute providing coaching for CMA exam preparation which is less than six months of duration.

Similarly, If you go for CFA you do not need study permit. Please confirm with CMA association for mandatory qualificationa because for CGA only Canadian permanent resident can enroll.

Hope this answer your question completely.
