Can we apply for SIN when we land in canada?

and written in this site >> http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/how.shtml

Service Canada strongly encourages individuals to apply in-person. By doing so, if your application is in order, you can obtain your SIN in less than 15 minutes and do not need to part with your original identity documents.

so to be safe, we can get our SIN within 1 hour?

Hey it's you again.lol.

Yes you just need your passport, student permit and passport with visa.

You will get a temporary page that contains the SIN.(You can use the number right away.)
And the actual card will come in the mail withing 2 weeks.

nvm, i get it.

so i get the actual number on that day, and the paper after 2 weeks. alright!

You get a piece of paper on the day WITH the number.
And then you get the Card within 2 weeks.

I saw your other post, You can use the SIN and health card to get a phone. With the passport. Even without the ID yet.

at the phone selling booth, they didnt accept passport. :(

so no phone for me now. :(

That is really odd. I remember not having a Canadian ID back then and was able to get a phone.

Try a different booth or company! Make sure you have the SIN and health card with you when you do that.

i dont have sin and health card, i will apply on sept 3, ***k weekends and holidays.

i think work permit can be shown, but not really required?

http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/proof.shtml

You must provide one of the following primary documents:

Study permit issued by CIC and a contract of employment from the learning institution or employer on campus where you obtained authorization to study by CIC (this contract must show the start and end date of employment and these dates must fall within the study permit dates).

yes it is required...or atleast a contract of employment......either way some kind of employment

In order to get a SIN if you're on a study permit, you require 1 of the 2 of the following:
1. An Off-campus work permit
2. An offer of on-campus employment by the college/university.

In other words, you either have to wait till you're eligible to apply and receive the off-campus work permit OR you can get it if you've been offered part-time job in your college/university campus.

i am at co-op program, but i didnt got work permit with my study permit. >:( so unlucky >:(
