Hi,
I am applying for spousal sponsorship for my wife. And I can see that processing time takes around 17 months.

During that time, what are the possibilities for her to come and stay with me in Canada for 2-3 or 6 months.

What visa's she should apply. Will that have any affect on her PR application.

Thanks.

She can apply for a TRV to visit you. No guarantee it will be approved but it will have no affect on your PR application.

Out of curiosity, did your wife manage to obtain a TRV?
My wife applied for a TRV and a study permit. It was denied.

Your wife should be able to just cross into Canada and be here for 6 months as a visitor.
Just don't tell them she's planning to move here and she should have no issue. If she mentions she is going to visit a significant other they will have more questions - likely want to know how long she will be here. Tread lightly!

if his wife is from India (as suggested in previous posts) and/or their visa office is singapore, she certainly does need a visa to visit canada, and will not be able to travel to or enter canada without prior approval (visa). only Visa EXEMPT visitors can show up at the border without a visa. also, CBSA doesn't give everyone 6 mo. automatically. for visa exempt visitors it will depend on answers to questions asked and the officer's thoughts on intentions. for those who require a visa, the time allowed will be dependant on the TRV application.

I'm so sorry your wife was not granted a TRV. Maybe you'll just have to wait for the spouse sponsorship visa to come through. Hopefully it won't take too long.
