So my very good friend is in a complicated situation right now, she's at the end of her rope and I figured I'd ask for advice here as she's practically given up hope and I want to help her.

My friend works for a tech company in Vancouver that is currently sponsoring her. She's been there for over a year now.

Earlier this year she had a major health situation and had to go back to Korea for medical treatment. She was away for about a month. She worked remotely part-time while she recovered. Her company seemed fine with it... until she came back.

They immediately reduced her hours to 12 per week. Not due to the lack of business as there is still plenty to do. However, they've continue to pay her for 40 hours, but asked for the difference in cash back.

They've continued to treat her worse over these last few months, not inviting her to important meetings, restricting her from updating her LinkedIn, only speaking a language she can't understand around her (all of her coworkers are Chinese), and most recently reducing her hours to 10 per week. With the heavy application fees and living in Vancouver, her funds are draining away. She feels completely defeated and unable to fight back and is considering moving back to Korea very soon due to the stress.

I've asked her to report them, but we are both unsure of what we'd report them for and/or if it'll have negative repercussions against her application. Please help! Any advice on what to do would be very helpful.

She should report the company to IRCC. This is an illegal practice and they should not be able to sponsor other employees.
