Hi...

I am from India and my Birth certificate in not available with the concerned municipality. They don't have the records available prior to 1980 and they even not issuing me any letter which shows that my birth record is not available with them. But I do have a Domicile Certificate issued by the Govt Authority showing my name, my Father's name only , my residence address and date of birth.

Can this document of domicile certificate be used in lieu of Birth certificate which is the mandate requirement for FSW 2014 immigration ? IF not then what is the other alternate document that can be used ? Please help.

Thanks.

Your 10th year certificate shows your name, your parents name, and can be used in lieu of a birth certificate.

Hi,

I have created affidavit from Notary stating that my birth certificate not available and mentioned by birth date in the oath.

Is this not fine?

Please help suggest friends.

Thanks for the reply...!!

However, my High School Certificate ( 10th Class ) does reflects only my name and my father's name along with my date of birth. In country like India only Father's name is always reflects on Govt Documents except Passport and Municpal Birth certificate where both Father & Mother name does reflects. But I am cent percent sure that Passport will not be considered as proof of Birth Certificate; then what kind of other alternative can be used in lieu of Birth Ceertificate ?

Please help.

Thanks

There is a process where you can take the official document provided by Govt Authority with an Affidavit stating that the record of your birth is not available and also use your 10th Certificate. I remember reading about it but have no personal experience so maybe seniors on this forum can share experiences

I am also struggling with getting my name updated on my Birth Certificate in Delhi. From what I am facing after the computerization of all records in MCD any changes done prior to 1990 take 21 days. No way of getting anything faster. I have submitted the required documents and now waiting

If you are staying out of India then you can easily get it from indian mission based on your passporr

No, I am currently living in India and I tried to contact the concerned Municipal office and now they are stating that my Birth Certificate would be issued through SDM office/ District Court and it would take approximately 25-40 long days.....Not sure what can be other alternative in lieu of Birth Certificate....

Hi,

I am also facing the same issue. ( i am in india too)
My parents never got the birth certificate issued from any authority as i was born in village and no one maintains such things there.

I have the 10th certificate mentioning my DOB.

I also consulted one immigration consultant regarding the same.
He told me to attach an affidavit issued from a notary that no birth certificate is available and i am attaching my 10th certificate as a proof.
That will do.

Tell me what you will do as i will also follow the same ;D

I consulted an Immigration consultant regarding this and what was told to me was

1. It depends entirely on the VO, some VO's accept Affidavit and SSLC while some others have rejected it. My consultant pointed out 2 different cases, one was accepted the other returned for more information.
2. If its possible to get a Birth Certificate, please get it done whatever time it takes as it is an important document which will come in handy later as well (after landing)
3. If its not available you need to get a letter from the Government Authority/Hospital etc that the Birth Certificate is not available. If you are born before a certain year this document is easily available and records were not available.
4. With this official document stating that your birth certificate is not available and your passport/SSLC and Affidavit you can submit the application

This is what I have discovered so far. Seniors please correct me if I am wrong. On a positive note after much pleading the MCD guys have agreed to give me the updated Birth Certificate on 16th of this month. ;D

One more document checked off the list. Only WES Transcript & IELTS left :)
