Can Permanent Residence card be mailed out of Canada ?

Hi dear friends,
Well it's been one month that i did additional medical exams , i am expecting passport request , hope this will come soon....
However , in case i have my visa this year , i may not move definetely to Canada , i will complete my landing and return here then prepare
for definite moving may be early 2011. I am therefore planning in case all goes well and once landed in Canada to provide my sister's address so that she can receive my permanent resident card and FEDEX it to me here in China, because i may at that time stay less than a week in Canada.
But here come some questions:
Must i be there in person to receive my PR card? or can my sister receive it on my behalf?
Can my sister send my card here to me by courrier?
Is it legal to send the PR card outside Canada?
Since i didn't leave Canada with my PR card , and at the moment of re entry, i have it , will that be a problem?

My understanding is that they will not send your card if they understand you are intending to have someone else receive it and forward it to you. The intent is for the PR card to be sent to you in Canada, just FYI.

CIC will only deliver to an address in Canada. But once received it can be mail anywhere in the world.

Hi Zagalo,

Couple of things, when you complete your landing inform that you will be staying with your sister atleast for a couple months and then will go back and wind up everything and come back for good. I am saying this because if you mention you are returning witin a week, the IO will ask you to apply for your card when you come back for good because it takes 3-4 weeks to get your card, although this is mailed by regular mail they expect you to personally be there to receive your card.

Secondly Yes your sister can receive your card as it will be dropped into her mail box where she receives her regular mails. She can then Fedex the same to you.

I have a question on this: what if I land in Toronto, but I request the letter to be sent out in a different city in Ontario or maybe to different city in another province outside Ontario? Would this be ok?

Yes.
PRC is a federal document and is 'one' for the whole of Canada... it can be mailed to any where within Canada.
